“To Catch a Bombmaker” written by Clay Dillow was featured in the November 2015 issue of Popular Science. Popular Science is a magazine that publishes various articles on the subjects of science and technologies that are evolving. It is informative yet easy to read. This was mainly an informative article so that he could share the story, but could also be found entertaining, if the reader enjoys reading things about scientific projects/happenings. In this article Dillow does a good job at answering the key question/statement from the beginning to end. He used quotes from an expert, Greg Carl, to help to validate his information. When looking at the overall information included in the article, there could always be more information included. He had a sufficient amount of information, but he mainly just told a story. The reader might learn more if pictures of what he was explaining were included, when he was discussing bombs in the second and third paragraphs of page one. Although, he is very descriptive and vividly paints a picture in the mind of the reader as to what it’s like when a terrorist is building a bomb. The average reader shouldn’t know everything about making a bomb/ IED. Dillow assumes that people know what he is talking about when he says “a Chinese-built Senao” (Dillow1). Some people might have to look that term up to find that it’s simply a cordless phone, that can be used to make an IED. In the second paragraph of the third page, he mentions of a program that the United States launched in 2007 to resettle thousands of Iraqi refugees, but he never tells what the name of the program is (Dillow 3). This is an important detail of the article that needs to be elaborated on more because it is how an Al-Qaeda member got into the U.S. The critical thinking aspect of the article analysis is sufficient, but could use some work to further enhance the readers
